For thousands of years, women have used vegetable oils to care for and beautify their face, body and hair. We bring you a little guide on how to include them in your beauty routine for maximum skin and hair well-being
The use of vegetable oils is a real treat for the skin – these precious natural drops nourish and protect the skin, restore its moisture and elasticity, and help restore skin suppleness. Thanks to essential fatty acids, they help maintain optimal hydration levels, reduce moisture loss, and with their nourishing and protective properties quickly alleviate skin dryness. In addition, they also help improve skin elasticity and help prevent visible signs of aging. This is due to vitamin E, which acts as a powerful antioxidant, which is why vegetable oils can be a powerful weapon against small wrinkles.
In addition to all the benefits for the skin, vegetable oils can be used as a hair mask and restore its suppleness and shine. Add a few drops to dry ends, make a pack and apply to hair, wrap in a warm, damp towel and leave for a couple of hours or overnight, and watch your hair become stronger, healthier and shinier. But in order to enjoy all the benefits of these nourishing drops, it is important to properly assess the type and condition of the skin, and the way they are used can play a decisive role in satisfying the final result. With this in mind, it is not out of place to establish a few basic guidelines that will bring you closer to the status of a true connoisseur from beginners in the use of vegetable oils in skin care.Which vegetable oil to choose?
Which vegetable oil to choose?
When choosing an oil, first pay attention to the type of skin and the problem that is bothering you. This may require a little experimentation, but once you find the right combination, the skin will really regenerate.
It is useful to follow the following guidelines, although it is worth bearing in mind that these are not strict rules, but each skin is adorned with its individual characteristics, and this is perfectly fine. For dry skin care, almond, macadamia and hemp oil is recommended, and if you want to add an anti-aging effect, reach for avocado, argan, apricot and wild rose oil.
Sensitive skin will enjoy the soothing effect of marigold, pomegranate, oats, evening primrose and borage. For combination and oily skin, it is useful to include black cumin oil, grape seeds and hazelnuts, as well as jojoba oil, which will save oily and dehydrated skin.
Hydrolate + oil = winning combination
To provide your skin with the necessary hydration and “lock” moisture in the skin, apply oils on a damp face. Namely, the skin needs both oil and water, so vegetable oils are used in skin and body care in combination with a hydrolate or tonic.
After cleansing the face, apply hydrolate or floral water to the skin. This refreshes, hydrates and tones the skin and is perfectly prepared for further care. Before the face dries, gently massage the vegetable oil with your fingers. It is important that the oils used in skin care are unrefined and cold pressed, because only in this way can they preserve their valuable ingredients – fatty acids, phytosterols, vitamin E… Almost all oils are far more nutritious and healing if not refined and thus provide the skin all the necessary care directly from nature.
Melvita, a French organic cosmetics company that has been offering pure oils for skin and hair care for 35 years, is also guided by this mission. Melvita’s philosophy is to interfere as little as possible in the process of obtaining the oil in order to preserve all the properties of these crude elixirs.
The flowers and tubers are soaked in organic vegetable oil (sunflower or soybean) for several hours to almost 40 days, while the seeds and seeds are mechanically cold pressed. In both cases, the result is the vegetable oil “premier jus”, which is rich in essential nutrients.
One of the most stable natural oils, argan oil is an excellent ally in skin care. Extremely rich in omega 6 fatty acids (hydration) and omega 9 (cell cohesion) and sterols (stimulating cell membranes), argan oil protects, nourishes and regenerates the skin of the face and body. Due to the high content of vitamin E, it is especially suitable for the care of dry, mature and wrinkle-prone skin.
